Introduction
Jackson Lam lives by the motto "putting my heart in everything I do". This has guided him throughout his career which has been focused on community building and outreach engagement.
His years of volunteerism in the community has also been shaped by this belief. His dedication to volunteerism includes more than 7 years helping out at Chong Pang Grassroots Organisations, being the Branch Secretary for PAP Chong Pang Division for almost 6 years, where he has organised community building and resident engagement events. Most recently, he was also appointed Treasurer in the Singapore Wushu Dragon & Lion Dance Federation.
His passion for caring for seniors and underprivileged youths is a story close to home. After his father passed away from cancer, and his mother remarried, Jackson was largely cared for by his grandmother. Staying with different relatives and experiencing hardships during his turbulent teenage years has moulded his resilient character. This formed his belief that all youths can be given opportunities in life to do well and do good.
Despite his background, Jackson believes if he puts his heart in everything he does, he will succeed. What it takes is a lot of hard work, a positive attitude, and the ability and willingness to listen and connect with all.
Jackson graduated with an Honours degree in Business Management from the University of Bedfordshire in 2013. He is presently Assistant Director, Operations and Mobilisation Division at National Trades Union Congress (NTUC), and concurrently, Principal Industrial Relations Officer, Building Construction and Timber Industries Employees’ Union (BATU).
